Fun in the sun with Green People’s suncare for kids

Good is never good enough when it comes to looking after my little daughter – I want the best for her, as every mother. So now that the summer months are here and (thanks god) there have been liots of hot days already, for me it’s time to make my choice about her suncare.

I am sure that if you regularly read my blog you already know about my love affair with Green People and their lovely baby and kids skincare range. It’s all natural, organic, gentle to the skin, so it’s no wonder my preferred choice. I’ve been very kindly sent one of their No Scent Children’s Sun Lotion to try out – thank you, lovely Green People :-)

The first impresion is that the lotion is no greesy, but light and creamy. Surprisingly (in a very good way though), there are no white marks when applied on the skin – it rather spreads smoothly and absorbs nicely.
My daughter used to have eczema and her skin is still very delicate and prone to skin allergies, so choosing a natural, free from chemicals and alergens sun cream is very, very important for me. This one is exactly this, so I’m happy to use it again and again – they use natural mineral sun filters and skin-friendly ingredients to effectively protect against UVA and UVB rays, without the need for synthetic chemicals.

Another benefit is that this sun lotion is naturally water-resistant and it offers broad-spectrum UVA & UVB protection generated through a blend of earth minerals, and a UV filter derived from cinnamon leaf and edelweiss.

As of July 1st the RRP is £15.95 for 150ml / Available from www.greenpeople.co.uk, or at John Lewis, Waitrose, Wholefoods, Planet Organic and independent retailers.
You may also want to try their Lavender Children’s Sun Lotion SPF25 or Children’s Aloe Lotion & After Sun.

Find-a-Fountain and help the Earth

We just found new friends – lovely people who really care about the environment, and are doing something about it. And what they do is Aquatina. – Yes, I am sure you recognise the name from the Dragon’s Den. But in case you haven’t seen it just yet, Aquatina makes collapsible pocket-bottles. These 500ml bottles compress to 1/3 of their original size when emply – just right to fit in a pocket or a handbag. It’s a fabulous idea, very convenient, great design and most importantly, eco-friendly. It’s also brilliant for when out-and-about or travelling… especially with kids!

Did you know that globally, we throw away 150 billion water bottles every year? Line them up (nose to tail) and they’d stretch to the moon and back…50 times! Very few are recycled. Most bottles end up in landfills taking decades to decay.

Inspired by this, the guys behind Aquatina are launching Find-a-Fountain – a charity to encourage the use of free drinking water. Simply go to http://www.findafountain.org and you will be shown the nearest water source where you can fill your Aquatina for free. So far, its mainly London, but soon your help will be needed to map the rest of Britain!

The team behind Aquatina has spent weekends and lunch hours scouring the UK capital for free water sources. All the ones they’ve found have been mapped on the site. And it’s not just fountains. There are coffee shops, bars, pubs, shops and even offices where you can fill your Aquatina.

Aquatina are looking for sponsors to help build their website, restore drinking fountains, develop a FaF app, and to promote the drinking of tap water. If you think you can help, please get in touch – it’s great if we can all make a change – not tomorrow, but today!

And with our Summer Competitions just around the corner, stay tuned for more fresh & exciting news from Aquatina! ;-)

Supporting London Boroughs: Priceless

Promoted post

On May 25th 2011, I will be attending the MasterCard’s attempt to break the Guinness World Records ™ for the longest picnic table, which is in support of its Big Lunch 2011 partnership. MasterCard’s giant picnic table will be situated at Potters Field (in front of City Hall) and will be over 90 metres in length.  Why don’t you to come join us on the day to become a part of the world-record breaking attempt, but mostly to enjoy the day out with the free lunch provided. It is first come first served, so hurry up! The event will be taking place at Potters Field Park, Tower Bridge, City of London, EC4R.

Just to give you some more ‘tasty’ hands-up, Former Blur star and passionate foodie Alex James will be hosting the event.  Plus, as well as breaking a world record, for every 12 people that have lunch on the table, a section will be donated to a London park from across the capital, helping to create thousands of Priceless moments across the UK.  Some of The Big Lunch’s most active London boroughs have been chosen to receive a number of picnic tables and lunches for parks in their area.

Hope to see you there!
